Extra Charges
Diesel Use
Please be advised that we are unable to provide holidays inclusive of free fuel due to changes in agricultural diesel taxation. Upon checking in, you will be required to complete a card pre-authorisation form. This form serves to account for the cost of diesel used during your trip and may temporarily hold funds from your card until the conclusion of your holiday. This process eliminates the need for you to wait for your boat to be refuelled upon returning, as we may have a high volume of boats to attend to on that day.
Cancellation Protection
When reserving a trip on our canal boat, you can choose to add our “Cancel Shield” for a fee of £90.00.
Once a deposit payment has been submitted, a legally binding agreement is formed that holds you accountable for the entire rental fee, even if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from embarking on your holiday. By opting for our “Cancel Shield,” you will be safeguarded from this responsibility under the following qualifying conditions:
1. Passing away, sustaining an injury, falling ill, or being pregnant (in all cases verified by a qualified medical professional), serving on a jury, or being called as a witness for any member of your listed party when your reservation was made.
2. Passing away, sustaining an injury, or falling ill (verified by a qualified medical professional) of the spouse, parent, step-parent, parent-in-law, sibling, child, or step-child of the individual making the reservation or any member of the group.
3. Experiencing redundancy (as long as the individual making the reservation qualifies for payment under the Redundancy Payment Act 1965).
4. Cancelled leave orders for UK police and military personnel.
5. Covid-19: If you or any member of your designated party are unable to travel due to a diagnosis of Covid-19.
How to Cancel Your Booking
If you need to cancel your holiday, please contact us as soon as possible. We will proceed with cancelling your holiday upon notification. In order for a refund to be processed, we may require documentation as proof of your need to cancel, such as a doctor’s note, legal notification, NHS Test and Trace notification, or a positive Covid-19 test result. If this is the case, please promptly send a scanned or photocopied version of the proof to bookings@crestnarrowboats.co.uk within 48 hours of our request and prior to the start of your holiday. Once we have received the necessary documentation, we will notify you of any refund due. Refunds will be issued within 10 days, but may be subject to bank charges and will exclude the Cancel Shield Fee.
The amount of the cancellation charges will be determined based on the date of your verbal cancellation instruction:
Number of days before the start of your holiday | Your Returns |
2 days (48 hours) or more | Full refund (minus the Cancel Shield fee) |
2 days (47 hours, 59 minutes) or less | 30% refund of your total holiday cost (minus the Cancel Shield fee) |
